Statistically, Michigan had the 5th largest population for autism in 2007, and over 15,000 kids diagnosed with autism in 2010. and both of those numbers are growing. there are groups, and organizations in michigan that can help. in my own county, there is the autism society oakland county, which is a great sorce for info and advice on helping a kid with autism. the DMC's (Detroit medical center) Children hospital has a center for autism where kids can be in a safe environment, while parents can learn first hand from doctors about autism and how to care for a child with autism. Statewide, there's the Autism Alliance of Michigan, provides advice for people across Michigan with kids that have autism. And there are many more organizations for people in Michigan to get involved i helping kids that have autism.
